Pretty Paper Flowers

About a month ago I came across this post of Laurel's from Chipping With Charm of little book page flowers she made with Fiskers paper punches. I thought they were the cutest things ever so I went out and bought the punches to make my own using sheet music. Go to Chipping with Charm to see Laurel's tutorial.

One of the paper punches that I bought is a little different than Laurel's so here's how mine turned out.

I loved them so much that I even decorated a tiny grapevine wreath with some.

I think you'll be seeing these flowers a lot around here! :)

Embroidery Hoop Art

I'm loving all the embroidery hoop art I've been seeing all over blogland, Pinterest, and Etsy! I'm loving it so much that I've been making some to sell in my booth. Here's a few that I've created.

I've made a few like this. I used drop cloth for the hoop fabric and made the rosette from white muslin. I have also made one with a rosette made with white burlap.

I've been experimenting with transferring images using Citra Solv and graphics found from The Graphics Fairy onto a cream colored muslin. Love these! Let me know if you'd like me to put together a tutorial on how to transfer.

Fun right!?! There are so many ways you can dress up an embroidery hoop. I find them all the time for super cheap at thrift stores. I can't wait to make more!

I Won!

I won a fabulous giveaway that Lisa at Posy & Co. had a couple of weeks ago. I thought I would share because it's not often I win a giveaway and my prizes are so fun!

Here's the cute box everything came in.

Here's what greeted me when I opened the lid!

Look at all the lovely shabby chic paper goodies!!!

My favorites are these tiny blue rose stickers.

I can't wait to use these stamps!

Thank you again Lisa! I love everything and am so glad I was the winner!!! :)

Living Room Changes

Last weekend I made a few small changes in my living room to make room for a new addition. While I was taking pictures I realized I had never really shared the entire room with you. I've shown you this cabinet that I change up often for the seasons and this shelf makeover, but never the entire room.

I'll show the before and after from each angle. But, please keep in mind that this room is #3 on our room makeover list so it still needs a lot of work - including removing the brick wallpaper, repainting, new trim, etc.

I worked on rearranging in the late afternoon so for the sake of keeping things real I thought I would show you what our living room typically looks like on the weekends with a 2 1/2 year old running around.

 Before
What a mess!!!

 After
I moved the yellow glider over a little and replaced the dark end table with the white one

After
I replaced the other dark end table with the tall brown cabinet

After
Do you see the new addition!?! I finally have a ladder!!!!! I love it!!

The yellow glider was brought out from Anderson's room to provide more seating until I can find a couple of these chairs that I've been searching for for months:

So what do you think? I know the changes were minimal, but I'm thrilled with my new ladder and it gave me a chance to show you another room in my house!

Coffee Sack Pillow

I received some burlap coffee sacks and regular burlap bags from BurlapFabric.com. They asked me if I would like some to use to make something fun and of course I said yes!! When I received my box full of bags I couldn't wait to get started.

I decided to turn one of the coffee sacks into a pillow. So I took one of the bags and took it apart.

I ironed it really well (It looks like I need a new iron! I still see wrinkles)

Then cut out two 15" x 15" squares.

I sewed the pieces together, inserted a pillow form, and slip stitched the open seam.

I love how one side of the pillow says "Product of" and the other side says "Vietnam".

Thank you BurlapFabric.com for the bags!! I can't wait to use the rest for other projects!

If you haven't visited their site you should. They offer the coffee sacks, burlap bags in a variety of sizes, burlap ribbon, jute webbing, twine, cheesecloth, etc. Everything is very reasonably priced. I know where I'll be going for my burlap supplies!!
