Drop Cloth and Lace Messenger Bag

I have a beautiful LuLu Beans Crochet Scarf giveaway happening now!! Please go enter HERE!!!

Well friends, I finally accomplished something that's been on my to-do list for over a year now. I made my own messenger bag!!! I'm thinking I should have attempted to make one a little sooner because I seriously love it!

In typical Melissa fashion, I kind of just winged it and didn't know what I was doing half the time, so I don't really have a tutorial for you.

I folded a piece of drop cloth in half, drew on it with a pencil the shape I knew I wanted my bag, cut it out, hemmed and sewed, added a strap and a pretty piece of vintage lace. I know that makes no sense, but it's really the best I can do - those are "winging it" instructions after all.

Here's how it turned out.........don't look too close......it's not perfect! ;)

I also like the look of the square shaped messenger bags. Maybe in another year I'll get around to making one like that?? We'll see! :)

P.S. If you'd like to see sneak peeks throughout the week and other inspiration, be sure to follow me on Facebook!!

  3. Awesome job! I'm partial to the linen look of dropcloth myself and the contrast of the lace is so nice! I would love it if you shared this great DIY idea at Thrifty to Nifty Thursdays at A Jennuine Life. http://www.ajennuinelife.com/2013/02/thrifty-to-nifty-thursdays-8.html
