Reclaimed Wood Art Piece

A couple months ago I found a really great frame at the thrift store that had a piece of thin plywood attached to the back. The frame was a dark brown color. My original plan was to paint the frame, remove the plywood, and sell it empty at my booth.
But then, I had an idea!!!!!!!!!!!
Have you heard of mudcloth? I've seen mudcloth before, but never knew what it was called until recently. It's cotton fabric made in Mali and dyed with mud.

I love the patterns and tribal designs!

I've been wanting to do an art piece using reclaimed wood for awhile and finally had a blank canvas and perfect inspiration to do so!

Using the lines and triangles of mudcloth for my design and scraps of fence boards in our garage, my husband and I created this beautiful piece of art!

Some of the wood moved a bit when I placed books on them for weight to help the glue set, but I really don't mind the imperfections. I think it just adds to the piece.

I love how the wood tones pop off the white!!!

This probably makes the cut for one of my top five favorite projects ever!!
