Bring on the Stripes

It just hit me that when I decorate my home, I play it a little safe. I decorate with neutrals, paint my furniture white, or leave the wood tones alone. While I'm not afraid to go big and bold, it's just the look I prefer. I felt like I was living on the edge a bit when I decided to stamp a wall in my studio recently! ;)

My booth, on the other hand, is where I have a little more fun. I still stay pretty neutral, but I like to try different things with the furniture I sell.

I found this little table at Goodwill and decided to paint it using General Finishes Milk Paint in Lamp Black. My absolute favorite!!

Lately I've been really loving the look of black and gold together. And, I always love the look of a striped table top. I combined all three with a fun little twist on the stripes to make it look slightly more geometric.

I almost wish now that I had added one more horizontal stripe!

*Paint was supplied to me for this project, but all opinions are 100% my own .

Do you play it safe, or do you like to have fun with your home décor?

  1. I like the unexpected, Melissa, and I think that's what you get with your table makeover. Every so often, when I was making over a lot of furniture, I would add some stripes into the mix. Just to do something different than a solid color. I like to add them to drawers and table aprons for that little bit of whimsy. I like the colors you used.

  4. I love it! I really am in love with gold right now. I actually recently painted a white and gold lamp for my living room. This looks great! I'm stopping by from the Wow Me Wednesday linky party. Have a great week!
