It's just so unexpected and rustic. So, when my mom found this dresser for me for $15 at a furniture resale store, I knew immediately I would be adding numbers to it.
I was planning on just stenciling numbers onto the drawers, but my mom had a brilliant idea, so the dresser now looks like this.
Isn't she gorgeous!!!!!!!!!!! I found vintage house/mailbox numbers and nailed them to the drawers!
It took forever to sand off all that stone finish paint, but I finally got everything sanded down to the wood. I used the same vinegar technique I used for our farm table and my fresh apple cider sign to stain the top. Then I added a coat of wipe on poly. I painted the dresser and drawers in Parchment White, distressed it a little, painted the knobs dark brown (until I can figure out what type of knobs I want to replace them with), and added the numbers. I am thrilled with how it turned out!
