I removed the picture, painted the frame and stapled chicken wire to the back. Then I added old kitchen utensils I found at estate sales for $.75 or less. I used twine to tie them to the chicken wire. So easy, but so cute! It has that farmhouse-y feel I'm going for in my kitchen.
You want to know a secret? That mini loaf pan makes the perfect cover for the ugly phone jack on the wall. :)
I need your opinions? Should I repaint the frame a different color so it pops off the white wall, or does the white on white look ok?

Hi! Just found your creative blog from Coffee, Clean, Cupcake. I love your transformation of the photo frame into vintage country decor. I think I'm going to put chicken wire on my grocery list! I like the white frame on white wall -- it's a very clean look.
ReplyDeleteI'm your newest follower, and look forward to your inspiring posts.

This looks great. I like the white on white.
ReplyDeleteWhat a FABULOUS idea! I collect vintage kitchen utensils (some of them my grandma's) and had no clue what to do with them!
ReplyDeleteI think the reddish color of that handle would look great on the frame.
ReplyDeleteI think a redish color like the handles would look good, too..... but I don't know the color scheme of the rest of your kitchen...
ReplyDeleteYou don't know me I found your blog from links on other blogs. But I like the white frame on the white, it makes the chicken wire stand out instead of making the frame the focus.
ReplyDeleteThis is great! I am a new follower.
ReplyDeleteWow! What a great idea! It looks absolutely adorable! Great job-super creative!!
ReplyDeleteI have some vintage utensils, and wasn't sure what to do with them. You have a great idea! Love it! Thanks for sharing:)
ReplyDeleteI love that you found a way to hide things you didn't like on the wall! I have a frame with chicken wire on it (kind of like this one.) Maybe I should try this!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute idea--and I love your hidden jack!
ReplyDeleteSo cute! I have an old phone jack in the wall like that, I may have to do something like this to disguise it too!

I'm totally stealing this idea, but instead of utensils I'm going to hang it in my bedroom & hang my jewelry on it :) My necklaces are ALWAYS getting matted together b/c I don't have a jewelry hanger & I really don't have a dresser or table for one. Great idea! Thanks! :0)
ReplyDeleteThis is such a great idea~ I am always losing things that I NEED in the drawers which are a total mess.. Love the chicken wire and the frame is beautiful! Thanks so much for sharing with the Pink Hippo Party.. can't wait to see what you share next!

Too clever! That would be a great way to hide an ugly thermostat. Except my husband probably won't let me cuz it will keep from registering the correct temperature. Ha...
ReplyDeleteI just scrolled back up and realized that my recent project, A memo board, came from a picture almost EXACTLY like your original. Ha! If it's ugly, change it! Too funny...
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea. I love the additon of chicken wire. Very Farmhouse and vintage like. Love it.
ReplyDeletewhat a fun idea!!! would be perfect for my country kitchen, thanks!
ReplyDeleteAdorable! Wish I had the wall space for something cute like that. I'll have to pin it and hope I find someplace for it one day.
ReplyDeleteI think a contrasting color on the frame would look good! Red...and maybe you could find a utensil with a red handle! I love this idea! ♥
ReplyDeleteThis is adorable!! I love the look of the vintage utensils and the chicken wire. The frame would be so easy to paint a fun color and if you didn't like it, you could always change it! I found you over at Serenity Now...have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteThis is a cute way to decorate and to show off your vintage utensils. I like the white/white combo but also think that a black frame would look good, too.
ReplyDeleteI found you through Amanda's link party at Serenity Now. We are link neighbors.
you totally rocked this--esp the part about covering the switchplate! way to go!

I am totally doing a twist on this in my kitchen! thank you for the great idea, you're so creative!
ReplyDeleteOh this is so nifty & you are so talented! What a cute idea!!! I think you should paint the frame maybe a gray color so it pops! But you could also always leave it white. Either way, it's still adorable! :)
