A few years ago I was flipping through a Restoration Hardware catalog I had just gotten in the mail and came across this photo:
I instantly fell in love with these chalkboards and wanted to make some!!
It's taken me awhile, but I finally got around to doing that!
I mentioned on this post that I have been working like crazy trying to get my booth ready for a big one year anniversary sale the antique mall is putting together. I've been shopping, painting, stenciling, transferring images onto flour sack towels, staining breadboards, and making chalkboards!! When I get my booth setup for the big weekend, I'll be sure to share photos!!
Anyways, back to the chalkboards. Using the Restoration Hardware ones as my inspiration, I told my husband what I had in mind and he cut out a few varying sizes of boards from a piece of luan.
I painted them with a few coats of chalkboard paint and ripped up strips of muslin and strung it through the holes at the tops of the boards.
I have noticed that chalkboards seem to sell better when they have things written or drawn on them, so I went over to the Graphics Fairy and looked for some fun steampunk images and starting drawing.
Here's how they all turned out!!
The old camera one is my favorite!
Also, here is a quick photo of the French Farmhouse inspired breadboards my husband cut out for me!!!
I can't wait to fill my booth with all these fun goodies!!!
