My First Experience with Miss Mustard Seed Milk Paint

I got this cute little tray table from my in-laws about a year ago.

I had it in my booth unpainted and it sat for awhile so I brought it back home to paint. I thought it would be the perfect table to try out my MMS Milk Paint in Ironstone for the first time. I followed the directions carefully on how to mix it, but I still think it came out just a bit too watery. The overall finish to the table was more of a wash so I'm excited to try it again for different results. However, I loved how easy it was to get into all those details of the legs with the milk paint!

I wanted the heavily distressed look and that is indeed what I got!

The distressing is a little scratchy, but I kinda like it!

For an added touch I used vintage doilies under the glass of the tray.

Do you have any tips or techniques that you have figured out with the milk paint?

  3. I like it! I haven't used milk paint yet. Did you have to wax it or seal it? Love the rustic look. Dee from My Painted Stuff

  4. That is how the paint finish should look - as if it has aged for decades. Beautiful job!

  5. I like the scratchy too. I won a giveaway and Ironstone was my color choice. Although I have a couple other MMSMP colors I had trouble getting my Ironstone mixed good too. And for the record, I like the scratchy look.
