Goals for 2014

As we start anew in 2014, I've been thinking a lot about my blog, my booth, and my home. The direction I want to take them, the changes I want to make, simplifying, starting fresh, and trying new things.

I have so many ideas and plans that I never seem to have time for. I want things to be different this year! I want to push myself creatively, I want to improve my photography skills, I want to learn to use power tools, and I want to tackle the mountain of projects that are slowing taking over our garage and my craft room.

I have big goals for 2014 and I will share my top five with you today to put it out there to help keep me motivated to actually accomplish them this year!

1.

My craft room is just not functional. Things pile up to the point that I can't move around and work in here. I want to give it whole new look, make it more functional, add more storage to stay organized, and freshen it up by repainting, replacing the trim and installing new doors. I also plan to get that paint off the beautiful hardwood floors. I will post updates along the way once work begins on the room.

2.

This year I want to finally get around to reupholstering these two chairs. Doing that will also help me accomplish my goal of trying new things. I've never reupholstered anything before, so this should be a fun new adventure.

3.

I want to redo these chairs somehow. I'm still debating between painting the fabric or reupholstering. Either way I'm getting these out of our garage this year and into my booth.

4.

I want to continue trying new and creative things. I recently carved my own stamps to stamp wrapping paper. It would have been way easier to just go out and buy stamps, but I thought it would be fun to carve them myself. And guess what? I loved it!!!! I have other things I want to try this year, including some woodworking projects that I'm hoping to be able to share very soon!

5.

I want to take more time to learn my camera. I also want to focus more on styling and composing beautiful shots. I have a great camera that I'm not using to its fullest potential.

So there you have it, a few of my goals for 2014. I'm excited for the new year and having you all along for the ride, witnessing my personal goal of being more of a doer than a dreamer!!!

What are some of your goals for the new year?

  2. Happy 2014 Melissa. Good luck with your 2014 list. I'm just ab out to move into a new rental house in a new state so my resolutions are limited but, like you, I put them in print so I, hopefully, will actually achieve some of them!

  3. We have so much in common Melissa...I feel like I could have written this post! One thing that popped in my head that may help you (or not lol) would be with improving your photography. I took an awesome course on clickinmoms.com called the best darn beginner course for digital photography (or something like that...and I learned a TON...and I didn't even finish it yet...I am really bad about accomplishing goals too lol). Wishing you the best in 2014. Hope we can both get our craft rooms organized and make some amazing things this year!
