Now onto the kitchen!!!!!
We completed our kitchen makeover last summer and it was a project that was a long time coming. We worked on it slowly over the course of two and a half years and it came together exactly how I was hoping it would!!
I knew from the beginning I wanted lots of white!! To me, white and wood tones just compliment each other so well! My goal was to make it look like the perfect farmhouse kitchen. With a limited budget and a little creativity, I think we pulled it off quite well!
We added bead board wallpaper and trim to the fronts of the flat faced cabinets for some dimension and character. We made the wood countertop ourselves by using 2 - 2 x 10 boards and 1 - 2 x 8 board.
If you missed the tour last month of our living rooms, I mentioned that I'm a sucker for collections.....I have a lot of them. Things appeal to me in multiples grouped together. Some of my collections are a little quirky like these whisk brooms, but that's what makes collecting so much fun - discovering what speaks to you.
I wanted a rustic edge to the kitchen so we brought in lots of wood like these barn wood shelves and the cabinet my husband built out of pallets.
Since storage is limited to the small amount of kitchen cabinets, we tried to be creative with other storage solutions like the pallet cabinets and adding shelves to an old door.

I love your kitchen!!! It is very similar in size, and storage. My house was built in 1917, so our kitchen is very small. I have been trying to figure out what I wanted to do, had some of the same ideas as yours, others different. Ours is a old farmhouse also. I may be borrowing a couple of your ideas, to finish off mine. LOVE!!! Thank you for sharing!!!

After viewing your charming kitchen in white with all your weathered wood accents, I'm totally inspired! I just love what you've done! Who knew those little wisk brooms could look so artsy?!
