Shelf Full of Treasures

After doing not much of anything the last week or two, project-wise, I had a VERY productive weekend and will have lots to share with you this week!!! To start things off, I gave a hanging shelf in our living room a little makeover by filling it with random bits and treasures.
The shelf has looked like this for awhile:

While you all know I love ironstone, this was looking just a little too blah! I wanted something a bit more collected and eclectic looking.

I gathered up everything from bits of nature to ephemera and this is how it all came together!

I think all the treasures make the shelf so much more interesting. Like, you just want to open it up and explore what's inside.

Let's take a peek, shall we!?!

Feathers were a must, of course! :)

This frozen Charlotte fits in perfectly.

I've had these antique calling cards stashed away, never knowing what to do with them. I love them and love having a place to display some now. They always remind me of Jane Austen's novels.

I used vintage envelopes to lighten things up a bit. Less permanent than painting the inside of the shelf.

More odds and ends.

It's way more fun now, don't you think?!?

  1. I think you've put together a lovely collection in this little cabinet, Melissa. It gives it a totally different look from the white pieces you had in it previously. It makes you want to look through all the layers to see each treasure!
