Estate Sale Finds

A few weeks ago my mom and I went to an estate sale. It was at an old antique store on half-off day so I found a ton of stuff and only spent about $18!!!!

I'm planning to redo my kitchen soon (after we finish our bathroom remodel!) so I've been trying to find things to decorate with that I have a few ideas for.

I love old compacts! How cute are those angels! The small one on the right is blush.

An old milk bottle carrier and some cute ironstone dishes

Wouldn't these old spoons and rolling pin look cute sitting in a crock on the counter?!?

I can't wait to repaint this shelf. It's a pale pink right now.
I don't know what it is, but I have a thing for mirrors!!
I have a wall of mirrors in my bedroom that I will be doing a post about soon.

I got this box (the lid was broken off) and everything in it for $1.50. It's mostly filled with junk and empty medicine bottles, but I found a few fun things. I plan to hang the box on the wall in my bathroom and use it to display some old bottles I have.

I love trips like these where you walk away with fun goodies without having to spend a lot of money!

Goodbye Spring Hello Summer

I like to leave my spring decor up as long as I can. And since summer is almost here I thought I would share some pictures of my spring vignette. I don't have a fireplace mantle to decorate, but I do have a cute shelf I like to pretend is my mantle and I change it with the seasons.

I bought the mirror at Goodwill several years ago for $7.

I love my Ironstone pitcher! It was an eBay purchase.

I borrowed the picture from my son's nursery.
I love the soft colors and cute animals.

The books were my dad's when he was a kid.
He wrote his name in them and dated them in 1957.

DIY Earring Holder

I made a fun earring holder for my mom for Mother's Day this year. I've seen this idea floating around blogland and loved it!!! Sorry, I don't have a before picture, but I bought a frame at Goodwill. Just imagine a dark wood frame with a picture of a leopard sitting in tall grass and that's what I was working with for this project.

Then I took these items:
And started transforming my frame. I sprayed painted it with several coats of Heirloom White. I hot glued a piece a window screen to the back of the frame. Then I took fabric that matched my mom's leaf/fall themed bedroom and glued it behind the screen. There was a blemish at the top of the frame that I didn't like so I took berry picks, secured them together with extra fabric and glued it to the top of the frame. Here's how it turned out!!!

DIY Easter Basket

My son was only 6 months old when he celebrated his first Easter. I thought it would be fun to pass down my Easter basket to him, but the more my husband and I thought about it, we realized he needed a basket of his own. So for Easter this year I made him a basket.

I found this at an antique store for $.50!!

I just spray painted the basket and a wooden letter "A" in Blossom White. Then I just hot glued on ribbon and the wooden A.

For a $4.00 investment I was very pleased with how it turned out and I was so excited for my son to use it this year for Easter.

New Blog

I'm new to the decorating blog world. I've been a reader for several years now, but I just recently decided to take the plunge and create my own blog. My husband and I started one recently to keep out-of-state family members updated on our life and our son. You can find that blog here.

Since first stumbling across a decorating blog of a home decorated in the romantic/shabby chic/vintage style, I completely fell in love with the look and I have been slowly re-doing our home, one room at a time, with time worn treasures I find at garage sales, antique stores, and thrift stores.

I would love for you to join me on this journey!!
