Dresser Redo

I love, love, love numbers and typography of any kind! I especially love the look of numbers stenciled onto a dresser like this one from Anthropologie.

It's just so unexpected and rustic. So, when my mom found this dresser for me for $15 at a furniture resale store, I knew immediately I would be adding numbers to it.

I was planning on just stenciling numbers onto the drawers, but my mom had a brilliant idea, so the dresser now looks like this.

Isn't she gorgeous!!!!!!!!!!! I found vintage house/mailbox numbers and nailed them to the drawers!

It took forever to sand off all that stone finish paint, but I finally got everything sanded down to the wood. I used the same vinegar technique I used for our farm table and my fresh apple cider sign to stain the top. Then I added a coat of wipe on poly. I painted the dresser and drawers in Parchment White, distressed it a little, painted the knobs dark brown (until I can figure out what type of knobs I want to replace them with), and added the numbers. I am thrilled with how it turned out!

Don't you just love my vintage grain scoop as a utensil holder!?!

So, what you do you think!?!

Pallet Love!

I absolutely love pallets and all the things you can make with them! I thought I would put together a post of my pallet projects that I have completed and some that are on my wish list and to-do list.

My husband and I made this pallet table for our patio

I made this pallet board sign for our remodeled bathroom

I made this cross from pallet boards
Fruits of the Spirit made from pallet boards and leftover chair rail

Here are a few projects on my to-do/wish list:

Church Office Redo

I work at a historical church in downtown Flint, MI. It was established in 1836 and is the oldest church in Flint. It's a beautiful place to work. All of the wood work, furniture and stained glass is just gorgeous. Someday, I'll have to share more of the building, but today I'll be showing you the office. Over the summer we got new carpet which led to an office redo! I was in charge of the redecorating!

I don't have any before pictures, but the office did not have a very welcoming feel to it. It always seemed cluttered and the furniture was a mix of old cast offs. We "shopped" the church to find some great antique pieces and other accessories that would reflect the history of the building and make the room look more like a church office.

We found an old door not being used and cut it down to fit above the cabinets

I made the cross out of pallet boards

Some very old bibles and hymnals found in different areas of the church

I removed the purple flowers that decorated this wreath that matched our old decor and added some simple burlap rosettes

I love all the stained glass!

I made the wreath and angels from old hymnal pages

This door leads into the business manager's office. I made her the framed monogram

We started a gallery wall for her office

The fruits of the spirit

I made this out of pallet boards and leftover chair rail from my son's nursery.

Throughout the history of the church, there have been several devastating fires. These are pencil drawings showing each of the church's building and how it has changed over the years

The top picture is what the current building looks like
Here are a few overall views of our new office.

I still need to do something with the empty space above the mailboxes

I wish I had before pictures so you could see how much it has changed. I hope you enjoyed your tour of our new space! :)

Touches of Fall

I have a rule for myself for fall decorating because I don't like to rush the summer away. Fall is my favorite season so I really have to force myself to be patient and wait to break out my decorations. So, my rule is that when I see the leaves on our huge maple tree in our front yard starting to change colors, that's when I can start decorating. :) And look what I happened to see last weekend!

I made the bunting with twine, burlap, mums, and silk leaves.

I covered one of my son's sand buckets with burlap and a grosgrain ribbon, and hot glued silk leaves to the sticks.

I never realized I had so many pumpkins!

Vintage decorations my mom gave me years ago.
