Pedestal Table Redo

After I finished this wash stand last week:


I had enough black milk paint leftover to paint two more tables. I'll be sharing one today and one next week...both of which I forgot to take before pictures. :(

The table I'm sharing today was just a simple round dark finish pedestal table. Like the wash stand, after two coats of black, it was transformed into simple elegance. 


 I love the detail of the base and legs. 

And for an extra little touch of fun, I drew a star on top, taped it off and painted it white. 





This was a simple redo, but I really love how it turned out!

Wash Stand Take Two

About a year ago I found this wash stand at the Salvation Army. It was painted this ugly shade of green. Yuck!


I worked on stripping the top and the drawer fronts, adding bead board to the door, repainting it white and spray painting the existing drawer pulls.

It's first makeover looked like this. 


A huge step up from that lovely green, but it sat and sat in my booth, so I took it home where it sat and sat some more.

I've had a plan for this wash stand for awhile now. I bought Miss Mustard Seed's Milk Paint in Typewriter over Thanksgiving and found new drawer pulls a few months ago on ebay. I made some time this weekend to give it its second makeover. 


I love it even more now than its first redo! The black with the dark top just looks so classic and elegant! 


The drawer pulls are stops from a pump organ. They all have this beautiful script on them, but each have a different word like Principal and Echo.


This is the first piece I have ever painted black. Usually I'm strictly a white girl, but black has completely won me over!!


I sealed the milk paint in MMS's Hemp Oil. It gave the piece such a beautiful subtle shine.





I'll be taking the wash stand back to my booth this weekend where, hopefully, it sells this time!




I don't know about you, but I'm digging the second makeover way better than the first! How about you? Do you like it better in black or white?

Feathered Gallery Wall

If you follow me on Facebook then you saw when I shared this beautiful picture I found at Goodwill! 


I had every intention of selling it in my booth, but quickly realized I couldn't get rid of it! It sat on the bench in our living room for a week as I pondered where I could hang it. 

There's a narrow wall in our living room between our front door and big picture window that has seen frequent changes because nothing ever felt right. Do you have a space like that in your home?

It started with this desk


Then was replaced with this desk


I would have been content with this wall of samplers done by my grandmother, but two were on loan from my mom for a magazine photo shoot. When I had to give them back, I was left with one little sampler on a tall narrow wall.   


But, thanks to that feather picture, I think I have finally conquered this wall!! 

 
When you stop just to stare at a wall all weekend, that's when you know you've nailed it! 

Speaking of nailing, I was working on this while my son was eating lunch. He must have been watching me because he asked where I learned hammering. He's so cute. 



Decorating the top of this desk has been a challenge for me too, but it all just flows now. 



 That quail....(that is a quail, right?) looks a little angry...


So the feathers, yeah....I hot glued those to the wall... I really did. Whatever works I guess! ;)

Grain Sack Lavender Sachets

I'm a little ashamed to say that these grain sack stars have been sitting near my sewing machine for over a year now waiting to be finished. Two Christmases ago I made these stockings and cut the stars out of the grain sack scraps. I made one star and had every intention of finishing them, but here we are a year later. I have a serious case of project ADD!! Anybody else suffer from that?

This weekend I made it my goal to finish these lavender sachets! I am so glad they are finally crossed off my list!!




 Now that they are finished, I will be taking them to my booth this weekend. 

Just in time to give my space a spring feel!


 If you can't tell, I had lots of fun styling shots for these cuties! 



 





It's always such a great feeling to get things accomplished, so why I put these off for so long, I have no idea because I certainly love how they turned out!
