I have a great Christmas Giveaway going on now!!
Please go HERE to enter!!!
I have an extremely easy tree skirt project to share with you today. But, I must warn you, if you are looking for a highly technical and by the book tutorial, this is not the post for you! :) This project took me five minutes tops and I was totally winging it the entire time. There is absolutely no sewing or gluing involved, and it will certainly never grace the pages of a magazine, but I got the perfect tree skirt I was looking for, so I'm ok with it! :)
I found a white ruffled tablecloth at an estate sale recently. I picked it up, unfolded it, saw it was for a round table and had a perfect ruffled edge. And.......it was only $.75! What could I do with it?
I put it down.
A few seconds later I picked it back up.
Then it hit me!
It would make a perfectly ruffled no-sew $.75 tree skirt!!!! Score!!
So, when it was time to break out the Christmas decor after Thanksgiving, I got to work on my tree skirt.
I laid it out and using a bowl traced a circle in the center, then cut it out.
Next, I made a large cut to go around the tree stand.
Here's where I got lazy. I cut three strips down each side.
So they could be tied around the base of the tree.
And voila!!! A beautiful tree skirt!!
Would you have been able to pass up this perfect ruffle?

Smarty idea. Honestly, I have a tree cloth but I used as my tablecloth instead. It works perfectly on my 4/6 sitter's round table.ReplyDelete
Somewhere I have a Brandenburg lace round tablecloth left from back in the day when a cheap round table covered in long tablecloth was all the rage. I feel a fast, cheap and pretty project coming on!ReplyDelete
Now...that's what I call NIFTY THRIFTY!!! Love how you were thinking outside the box on this one.ReplyDelete
That is just so pretty and I love the idea of using a round tablecloth ...so clever!ReplyDelete
Thank you so much for sharing and I hope you have a beautiful Christmas along with you family and friends...xo
Very pretty, I love the white! I bet it looks so charming under your tree! Wishing you a very Merry Christmas :)ReplyDelete
I like that, it's my kind of sewing. Will be on the look out for old ruffled tablecloth. I love that it is bigger than others I have seen.ReplyDelete
Great idea and right up my alley with no measuring, sewing, etc...ReplyDelete
Thanks for linking up!

how clever! I'm not sure I would have thought of that....I could use a tree skirt. I'll have to keep an eye out for a table cloth!ReplyDelete
