Rustic Mantle Headboard

It's an exciting time in the Urban household! After nine years in our home we FINALLY have baseboard trim in our living room and a headboard for the master bedroom! In the words of my almost four year old - "Can I get a woot woot?!?" I truly think that is cause for celebration!

We're still plugging away at our living room makeover and I'll soon be able to give our bedroom a little facelift which, of course, includes the new headboard.

I've been dreaming about a mantle headboard for a few years now and our bedroom is finally getting the attention it deserves. We had all the material needed for it so my husband worked on putting one together for us. I have to clean it up a little and seal it and then it will be all ready to be put into place!!!!

I wanted chippy. I wanted rustic. I wanted imperfections and character.

I'm pleased to say I got it all!!

I dug that porch post out of a trash pile in the woods at my parents house (Nate cut it in half). It's been sitting in our garage for a year waiting for inspiration. My initial thought was to make a lamp or two, but I'm so glad I waited for the perfect idea to come along!

Even after years of sitting in the woods, I love that there is still a bit of white chippy paint left.

 Fence boards

 Barn wood across the top

The 4 x 4's will be used to attach the mantle to the bed frame.

A full reveal of our bedroom will be coming soon as well as an update on our living room. Things are coming along and I couldn't be more excited to be crossing things off our mile long home improvement list! It feels good!!
