It was the perfect addition to his nursery. It was a bit of a challenge trying to get him to sit still to get good pictures, but I think they turned out well! After taking the pictures I just used my Corel photo editing software to trace around his profile, hands and feet. Then I simply flood filled the images in black and filled the background in white, printed them on cream paper and framed them in ones I already had around the house. The project was absolutely free!!

It is darling and keepsakes for sure!
ReplyDeleteReading your genius instructions for using the computer to make the silhouettes I am remembering a few years ago when we made one for each child in our Sunday school program using bare light bulbs and tracing shadows! This is such a great idea! Much less painful for subject and artist!
ReplyDeleteIt looks great. I especially love the jars filled with cars and blocks. I'd love for you to post this on my Share the Wealth Wednesday Link Party at www.laughloveandcraft.com. I'm your newest follower!
ReplyDeleteVery cute! I've done the silhouette profiles but never thought to do the hands and feet! Great idea!

ReplyDeleteOh how I love silhouettes! They always give the room such a classic flair. Love how you made the project all your own. Well done.
ReplyDeleteI love the three silhouettes!
ReplyDeleteLove, love this look for your nursery! I found the silhouettes from when my children were young a few weeks ago in an bin filled with pictures. They are way too big (I think they were done at school)...anyway I've had them reduced to a more manageable size and I'm going to re-cut them and frame as you did. BTW, my "kids" are in their 40's now. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteHow precious. What a wonderful keepsake. Thanks for sharing. Karie

Love this! I just hosted a silhouette-themed birthday party for my daughters in May (http://thecul-de-sac.blogspot.com/2011/06/my-daughters-joint-birthday-party.html). My step-dad did their custom silhouettes on photoshop, I think. I love that you did hands and feet as well! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteYippee! I have never made feet and hand silhouette's before - love them! My children have grown some, but I can find their old photos and make copies - what a terrific idea, and a creative craft! Thank you for sharing. xoxo michele
