2013 Fall Decor and a Link Party

Hello hello! How are you my friends? This weekend I did a little decorating for fall. The Fall Link Up party I mentioned last week that I'm co-hosting with Audra from Keepin Up With the Jahns, Jenna from Rain on a Tin Roof, and Kim from Exquisitely Unremarkable is now in full swing! Go link up now!!!

Our goal was to incorporate vintage or repurposed items into our decor, so that's what I did!!

Like last year I'm still loving the neutral and natural look for my decor! Here's what I put together.

I think these white wood pumpkins I found at a garage sale years ago will always be a staple in my fall decor. I LOVE them!

Cute baby pinecones in a vintage wire basket that belonged to my grandmother.

Simple - just how I like it!

Can't wait to see what you link up!!!

Rustic Mantle Headboard

It's an exciting time in the Urban household! After nine years in our home we FINALLY have baseboard trim in our living room and a headboard for the master bedroom! In the words of my almost four year old - "Can I get a woot woot?!?" I truly think that is cause for celebration!

We're still plugging away at our living room makeover and I'll soon be able to give our bedroom a little facelift which, of course, includes the new headboard.

I've been dreaming about a mantle headboard for a few years now and our bedroom is finally getting the attention it deserves. We had all the material needed for it so my husband worked on putting one together for us. I have to clean it up a little and seal it and then it will be all ready to be put into place!!!!

I wanted chippy. I wanted rustic. I wanted imperfections and character.

I'm pleased to say I got it all!!

I dug that porch post out of a trash pile in the woods at my parents house (Nate cut it in half). It's been sitting in our garage for a year waiting for inspiration. My initial thought was to make a lamp or two, but I'm so glad I waited for the perfect idea to come along!

Even after years of sitting in the woods, I love that there is still a bit of white chippy paint left.

 Fence boards

 Barn wood across the top

The 4 x 4's will be used to attach the mantle to the bed frame.

A full reveal of our bedroom will be coming soon as well as an update on our living room. Things are coming along and I couldn't be more excited to be crossing things off our mile long home improvement list! It feels good!!

Living Room Redo

I have some really great opportunities coming up that I will be sharing more about soon, but for now I can tell you that I've been working hard the last week trying to get our living room and master bedroom redone.

Last week we worked on the living room repainting and stripping wallpaper. There are still a few things left to do like install baseboards and paint the ceiling.

Please forgive the photos, they were taken quickly. I will take better and more detailed shots next week when everything is complete in the room.

Here are some befores:

And the afters:

Like I said, we still need baseboards and I'm debating whether or not the rug will be staying. Also, there will be a bench in front of the window, but for now it has temporarily taken up residence on my friend's fall porch.

The shelf and the picture on the back wall are too high so they will be lowered soon. Something else is going there too which I will reveal next week! ;)

I still need to paint inside where the tv is and grain sacks were used to cover the not-so-pretty dvds and cable box.

I think it looks simple, fresh, bright and calming.
The paint color used is: Homestead Resort Parlor Taupe by Valspar - my new favorite!

My Booth for Fall

I went into my booth on Labor Day and spent two hours filling it with tons of fall goodness! I am so, SO happy with how it all came together! It's perfectly neutral, rustic and natural!! Here are a few quick pics I took showing some of my favorites.

 Fun chalkboards with fall quotes.

I love these rustic cake stands Nate and my stepdad made for me!

Now onto plans for Halloween.... :)

Fall Porch Decor

I had the pleasure again this year to decorate my friend's porch for fall. (I decorated for winter last year too here). I barely have a space to decorate at my house so I'm thrilled she lets me have fun and create on her gorgeous porch. It's win win for both of us! Nanette will be filling in with mums and pumpkins soon, so the decor is not complete but I was too excited to not share.

So much space to work with! I love it!

The crocks will be filled with mums

More mums and pumpkins in the wash bin and pretty light up sticks for the olive bucket.

Nate whipped together two of these small tables. He constructed them exactly like Anderson's pallet table, but obviously on a smaller scale.

Have you decorated for fall yet?
