Fun new finds

I've been finding a lot of cool stuff at estate sales and thrift stores lately. I wanted to share a couple of my finds with you today, but I also need your help! For one of the items I've done quite a bit of unsuccessful internet research and am hoping one of you might have some information!

See how fun! A green metal lunchbox, a stack of books (some in french), and a metal creamer!

Look at the cute little star on the lunchbox! ♥

Now, here's where I need your help. I found several of these metal creamers and can't find much information about them. On the bottom some say Polar Stainless Steel Metal Ware 1952. The others say Polar Allegheny Metal Ware and have U.S.A.M.D. etched on the spout. Anybody know if these were used in the military? Perhaps the United States Army Medical Department? I did some research on the Polar Metal Ware company, but it wasn't helpful. I've also seen some of these same creamers for sale on etsy and ebay, but still not a lot of information on the history in the listing descriptions. I'm just really curious to know what the initials on the spout stand for.

I can't wait to get your feedback!

Patio Bliss

I came across this photo on Pinterest a few weeks ago and knew I had to have one off my patio!

I just happened to have a stack of old doors sitting in my garage so my husband built me a gorgeous little space off of our patio in less than an hour! Here's how my door haven turned out!

Oh, how I love it!!! Within minutes of Nate finishing it, I was out there decorating! :)

The church where I work is undergoing a kitchenette remodel. I rescued this huge dumbwaiter pulley during the demo phase! It's way too heavy to hang in my house so I thought it would look perfect out here!

I think I need to find some cute vintage gardening tools for this basket.

Rusty horse shoes add a fun touch. My mom told me about turning the horse shoes the other way so the luck doesn't run out, so I'll be changing the way they hang.

I'll share with you soon what I made this cute little star out of. Any guesses?

I absolutely love all the layers of chippy paint on this chair!!!!!

So what do you think of my new outdoor space!?!

Rusty Junky Tools

There's just something I love about old tools. Maybe it's the evidence that it was well used, the interesting designs, or the fact that they don't make tools like they used to. Whatever it is, the more rusty and junky the tool, the more I love it. Here are a few of my favorites that I have collected over the last few months.

Do you have a hard time resisting junky tools too?

Picket Fence Headboard

I have big, big plans for our master bedroom! I'm not giving it a complete overhaul - I'll be keeping the wall color the same, but I'll be adding some finishing touches that will make it look like a brand new space. However, I've still got my kitchen to finish, so the bedroom is not on the top of my list right now.

A couple weekends ago I did rearrange our room. Our bed used to be positioned under the window so a headboard wasn't an absolute necessity. But I moved the bed to a big blank wall. Like I said, I have plans for the bedroom and that includes building a headboard. So as a temporary solution I used a small section of picket fence that I found at an estate sale for a pretty headboard.

I know the scale of the fence is a little off compared to the size of the bed, but I still think it helps fill the blank wall with a little cuteness. :)

I hung some embroidery hoop art for an added touch!

It works for now, but I can't wait to show you what I really have planned for the room!!! Stay tuned!!
