Church Office Redo

I work at a historical church in downtown Flint, MI. It was established in 1836 and is the oldest church in Flint. It's a beautiful place to work. All of the wood work, furniture and stained glass is just gorgeous. Someday, I'll have to share more of the building, but today I'll be showing you the office. Over the summer we got new carpet which led to an office redo! I was in charge of the redecorating!

I don't have any before pictures, but the office did not have a very welcoming feel to it. It always seemed cluttered and the furniture was a mix of old cast offs. We "shopped" the church to find some great antique pieces and other accessories that would reflect the history of the building and make the room look more like a church office. 

We found an old door not being used and cut it down to fit above the cabinets

I made the cross out of pallet boards

Some very old bibles and hymnals found in different areas of the church

I removed the purple flowers that decorated this wreath that matched our old decor and added some simple burlap rosettes 

I love all the stained glass!


I made the wreath and angels from old hymnal pages

This door leads into the business manager's office. I made her the framed monogram

We started a gallery wall for her office

The fruits of the spirit

I made this out of pallet boards and leftover chair rail from my son's nursery.


Throughout the history of the church, there have been several devastating fires. These are pencil drawings showing each of the church's building and how it has changed over the years

I still need to do something with the empty space above the mailboxes

    Fab! I love the bibles! Great find. I'm lucky to serve as organist at a small UMC in VA. They still have the original sanctuary basically intact from the 1800's--complete with Eastlake Victorian furniture and pulpit, they also have antique showcase with artifacts from the chuch, as well as important documents and books relating to the chuch's history. I'm redoing my home office a little more shabby chic than gothic (which it was) you can see what I've got going on in there in my archives or by searching my site!
