Nate and I made our weekly stop at Goodwill the other day and I immediately spotted an awesome pair of chairs!!!! I posted about them on Facebook and the fact that I couldn't buy them because they wouldn't fit in my car. I was bummed to leave them behind to say the least.
After I got home I noticed I had a message from my friend Janet from White Barn Vintage. She said she was at Goodwill and was going to have the store hold the chairs for me until I could meet her there the next day with her truck and she would take them to my house!!!!!!!!!!!!! Awwww! She's the best!!!
So, I have the chairs and am now anxious to get started on trying my hand at reupholstering them! I'll keep you posted!!
See how gorgeous they are!?!
Looking at this picture, I just noticed they are two different styles of chairs!!!
Aside from the dated color of the fabric, they are also quite stained
I'm still debating on how I want to redo them. I am definitely painting the wood, but have not nailed down fabric. Grain sacks, linen and hemp are all options I'm considering!
If you have reupholstered chairs like this, or have seen tutorials, please send the links my way!!!

WOWZA! I am soooo jealous! Chairs are always better in pairs!
ReplyDeleteWhat Sweet find! if I ever decide make the switch from "country" to "shabby chic" this is where I'd start ;-) From browsing blogs and Pinterest, it's obvious it is "shabby chic's" turn in the decor world. I'm into country and prims, but I do love this ;-)
ReplyDeleteWhy can't I ever come across chairs like these!! Love them!!! :-)
ReplyDeleteCant wait to see what you do with these. I love them!
ReplyDeleteGreat find ! The wood looks very sturdy ! Beautiful chairs !
ReplyDeleteLucky you to get the pair! I ran across one (I thought) in a barn sale a few years ago, and put in a bid. They called and said, "Which one did you want because one is sold." What? I wound up with the lady chair (the one with the low arms) and mine is green. I am going to watch what you do with yours, because I have been trying to work up the nerve to do something with mine. It is in my BR, and I kind of like it as is, but the look is rather granny-ish I guess? At any rate, good luck and keep us posted.
ReplyDeleteStopping over from Nita's party.

Wow what an awesome find. I would have snatched these up too! I know how if feel not to be able to fit stuff in your car, it happens to me all the time and I have a small SUV. I recently went to Tongeren flea market in Belgium and found all this amazing and cheap furniture that I could not take with me. It was a tease!

Gorgeous chairs and what a great find! They never have anything like this at my Goodwill. I can imagine your disappointment at not being able to get them, but you must have been over the moon when your friend called!
ReplyDeleteAmazing chairs! I never find anything that good.
ReplyDeletethese are incredible! can't wait to see what you'll be doing with them!
ReplyDeleteGreat Chairs!!! What a find! I think the lady chair has the lower arms so that she can sit and knit or crochet comfortably without the chair arms getting the way of her elbows. I think I read that somewhere......
